Pure Mastering Vision

What’s mastering?
Mastering is the intermediary step between the mixing and the pressing.

History
In 1973 Sabin Nelson Brunette leaves his job as an engraving technician with London Records to open his own engraving studio: Disques SNB.

At that time "mastering" or "engraving" was comprised of two steps:
1st: The mounting, the equalizations, the compression etc…
2nd :  The engraving of the master plate on acetate which was later used to do the metallic stamp for the pressing of the vinyls.

Today, this last step is done in presage factories (this is also known as the "Glass Master").  The terms "mastering" or "engraving" or even, in French, "masterisation", are still used to determine the equalization process, the mounting, etc.

1987 - With the arrival of the CD, Disques SNB equips itself with the best system audio-numeric mastering system including its famous HM series 102 console (96khz/32bits) by "Weiss Engineering".  The transition from analogical to numerical must be done according to the rules of the trade. Disques SNB continues to the most important configuration of this console in the world.

2006 - Guy St-Onge, musician and fascinated audiophile buys the equipment of Disques SNB  and decides to step up a "World Class" mastering studio.

2008 - After two years of research and efforts, "Pure Mastering" opens in St-Calixte (Quebec).

And the adventure continues…
A new room was added to the Guy St-Onge Recording Complex.  It is spacious, silent and specifically designed to consider acoustics.  This room has a sound environment that is able to reproduce all the audible and sensitive frequencies, from deep subsonic to the highest pitch, all that perfectly in sync and phased.

The Guy St-Onge Recording Complex and Pure Mastering push the limits of musical reproduction.

How?
By offering under the same roof a recording studio augmented by real mastering!
